Before... and
now !
The Sensory Garden was created in the Spring of 2001.
It has grown in many ways.
This website is a permanent record of its creation and continual growth. Actual
visitors to the garden can become involved with a real-time, complete multi-sensory
experience.
As a virtual visitor you will enjoy a different kind of experience entirely
visual and hidden amongst the pages there are lots pathways to explore,
sometimes with extra visual effects.
Only a virtual visitor can witness the entire journey so far.
Scroll (or stroll ) down the page to explore the images and other pages that have captured it's
creation and growth. There are no quick links here so you will have to explore
our home page much as you would explore a real garden to find out where
everything is.
Feel free to contact us with any comments, queries or suggestions. The guest book
is now working again.
I hope you enjoy your visit and will return regularly to check for new updates.

See the step by step building of a blackbirds nest in the garden, and the growth
and fledging of the three young that were raised right here in our Sensory
Garden! Day by day close up pictures right from day 1.
The creation of our garden...
On Monday 12th
February 2001 the volunteers from the Prince's Trust, based at Lowestoft College
began work on their adopted project. This was to transform a bleak inner courtyard
area of our school, into a multi-sensory experience for the children (and staff!).
Normally only seen from inside the
school, these web pages allow you an insight into the
step by step creation of our the project. The garden was created using a
vast array of textures, smells and colours provided by manufactured and natural,
objects and materials.
Watch how our
garden grew!

Check out the pictures
below and see what herbs you can spot. you'll find fossils and shells here too!
During June the year 4
children were invited to bring in planted hanging baskets and other containers
as part of the school's entry into the " Lowestoft in Bloom "
competition. The baskets and containers have been placed in the Sensory Garden
as this is the ideal place to display their creativity. Have a look at them in
the latest pictures below. We'll let you know how we got on when they have been
judged!
